Myrland Stables Lesson Program

NOTICE OF CHANGE IN LESSON POLICY: Proof of payment (screenshot) needs to be provided to the instructor PRIOR to the start of the lesson.

PRICING

Al la carte

We offer lessons for $85 per person.

Each lesson will be an hour long and will cover grooming, tacking, riding, untacking, and cooling the horses.

**In order to better manage client expectations we want to make it clear that lessons are considered “semi-private”. When students first start out they are taught privately. At your instructor’s discretion, once the rider is independently handling their horse they may be transitioned into a group lesson (up to 3 riders).

  • Our 1-on-1 lessons are approximately 30 minutes long of riding, 15 minutes of tacking up, and 15-min+ of grooming/ rinsing/ cooling down.

  • Group lessons (2 riders +) are up to an hour long. Please arrive early to help get your horse ready and be prepared to stay later to help clean him properly and put him away.

Whatever your lesson time- please be prompt or a little early ready to ride, out of respect for the riders before and after you.

*We do not offer trail rides as part of our lessons. Unguided trail rides are an amenity available to our boarders and lessees.

NEW 30-MINUTE PONY RIDE LESSONS

These lessons will be available for $50 per person. These lessons can be used as an introductory for parents to see if their kids even like riding or for young kids that don’t have the attention span to take lessons yet.

lesson packages

We know that a steady schedule although ideal, is hard to commit to. We want to offer you some savings by buying multiple lessons that you can schedule at your convenience.

Lesson Package Policy: The package has a 6-month expiration upon purchase and is nonrefundable if not completely used up. If you are a “no show” you will be charged with a deduction from your lesson package.

A package of 10 lessons is $800.

first-time notes:

What to wear?

For the first lesson, students should wear long pants. (fitted jeans or leggings will work!) Please do not wear shorts or capris. A boot with a small heel is also preferred for general safety purposes. ASTM-approved riding helmets must be worn by all students. Myrland Stables has helmets available to borrow until students can purchase their own.

All riders should:

  • Have their hair neatly pulled back.

  • Wear a fitted or tucked-in shirt. Please avoid blouses or flowy shirts.

  • No spaghetti straps, visible undergarments, revealing clothing, or open toes shoes.

**By the 4th lesson, students are expected to own their own helmet, proper riding boots, and riding pants. Your instructor is happy to help consult and find clothes that fit your preference and budget.

please let us know:

There are some details that we need to know in order to have the proper equipment and horse reserved for your training session. We want you to have the most comfortable experience possible. Prior to scheduling, be sure to notify us of the following:

  • What is your riding experience?

  • Do you have any injuries/ conditions we need to know about?

  • What is your approximate weight and height? (We won’t tell anyone! It’s so we can have the correct size saddle and horse.)

what if I need to cancel?

There is a lot of organization that goes into our daily operations. If you need to cancel your lesson, we ask that you cancel at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson time. This of course does not apply to inclement weather or emergencies. If you are a “no-show” or do not cancel 24 hours prior to your lesson time, you will be charged the full lesson amount. (We can deduct it from your lesson package or it will be due before your next lesson.)

For example: If you are scheduled to ride at 9 AM on a Saturday, please cancel before 9 AM on Friday so we can potentially fill your spot. If you cancel at 1 PM on Friday (after the 24-hour prior window) for a 9 AM ride on Saturday, you will be charged for your lesson.

are parents and guests invited to watch?

Of course! However, we do have a few rules for parents and guests.

  • You must follow the posted Myrland Stables rules. You may also be asked to sign a liability release.

  • We STRONGLY encourage you to dress in the appropriate attire and wear enclosed shoes.

  • All parents and guests must spectate quietly outside of the riding ring. Please be courteous of other riders and boarders

  • No yelling or running around.

  • No backseat coaching- you have hired us to teach, and we want to!
